Diving Supervisor CPD

Background

In 2020 IMCA launched an App-based continuing professional development (CPD) scheme for diving supervisors.

The App incorporates the latest in training techniques to support diving supervisors in keeping up to date with current information and guidelines from IMCA.

As diving supervisors sit in a safety critical role, an effective means of ensuring they keep abreast of changes in industry good practice and guidance is essential.

From 2021, CPD becomes mandatory for IMCA diving supervisors.  All those who wish to maintain the validity of their diving supervisor certificates will need to undertake appropriate CPD and satisfy IMCA that this has been done. The IMCA CPD App provides a platform to facilitate this.

The App can be used across many mobile devices and operating systems, on or offline, thus allowing users the flexibility of choosing when and where to complete the relevant modules.

Trials of the App were successfully completed by a representative cross-section of diving supervisors from leading contractors in the industry, who were invited to participate in the consultation and testing process to ensure the system is user-friendly, appropriate, and effective.

The scheme is open to all IMCA certified supervisors, and registrations will also be accepted from both Diver Certification Board of Canada (DCBC) and Australian Diver Accreditation Scheme (ADAS) diving supervisors.

We encourage all diving supervisors to register for the IMCA Diving Supervisor CPD App on IMCA’s website and start using it before participation in a suitable CPD programme becomes mandatory in early 2021.
