IMCA launches progressive web app for eCMID

The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) announces the launch of its Progressive Web App (PWA) for its Common Marine Inspection Document system.IMCA’s eCMID system provides the marine and offshore industry with standardised formats for vessel inspection. New Feature for IMCA’s eCMID Ensures Usefulness for Clients

The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) has introduced a new feature to their eCMID website to enable vessel operators to upload additional documents that may be of interest to their clients. IMCA Warns Against Offline Use of eCMID System

The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) has issued a notice setting out the benefits of eCMID, its online vessel inspection system, and warning users that offline use is no longer permitted. Since 1 January 2018, IMCA has only recognised formal inspection reports conducted using its eCMID application and uploaded into the database website (www.imcaecmid.com). Any eCMID reports that are not uploaded to the database are not considered to be authorised vessel inspection reports. IMCA consulting on forthcoming updates to the eCMID and eMISW templates

IMCA has circulated draft revised versions of the eCMID (IMCA M 149 Issue 11) and eMISW (IMCA M 189 Issue 4) inspection templates.  These provide advance notice of changes, as well as providing an opportunity for users to comment on the question sets prior to publication, planned for early September. The eCMID update includes: new questions on cybersecurity new questions on the Maritime Labour Convention 2006 a new supplement on reactivation, reflecting the recent IMCA information note, which will be made available to eCMID users shortly additional guidance on the existing questions and references that identify the basis for requirements

Presenting eCMID to the IMO

IMCA’s Technical Manager, Mark Ford,and the Chairman of eCMID Committee, Stephen Birt, gave a presentation on ‘IMCA eCMID – An Independent ISM Health Check for your Ship’, to the International Marine Organization’s Maritime Safety Committee on 21 May. The presentation covered the importance of eCMID to provide a regular health check on a vessel’s Safety Management System. Use of the eCMID system has grown rapidly during 2018, with over 40% more inspection reports live in the database since January and more than 2,500 vessels now registered.

Reminder of changes to the eCMID system from 1 January 2018

Report format From 1 January 2018, IMCA will only recognise formal inspection reports conducted using its eCMID database, meaning that reports not uploaded into the database will no longer be considered by IMCA to be authorised vessel inspection reports.
