IMCA and OCIMF to work together to improve OVID

The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) and the Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF) have agreed to establish a joint committee to review, share and progress developments of the Offshore Vessel Inspection Database (OVID) system. The aim will be to improve the efficiency of the vessel assurance process by pooling the knowledge and expertise of oil companies and their marine contractors, while at the same time maintaining the highest standards of vessel assurance and risk management. Over 2,300 vessels listed on the eCMID database The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) has seen a marked increase in the use of its eCMID inspection scheme for offshore vessels that benefit from an independent International Safety Management health check. Over 2,300 vessels from more than 1,000 owners and operators are now listed on the eCMID database, which is consulted by more than 3,800 users each year. Inspections are undertaken by almost 400 Accredited Vessel Inspectors (AVIs) – and this number is rapidly expanding. IMCA welcomes UK Home Office decision

The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) welcomes the extension by the Home Office until 21 October 2018 of the concession to UK immigration rules concerning workers joining vessels engaged in the construction and maintenance of offshore wind projects.
