Published on 30 January 2020

The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) is playing an active role in the forthcoming European Dynamic Positioning Conference in London on 4 February 2020.

Reza Yaghoobi, Technical Adviser – Marine at IMCA will be speaking on ‘IMCA DP Assurance Initiatives over the past 12 months‘, considering revised guidelines for developing and conducting DP annual trials programmes; the IMCA DP Station-keeping reporting scheme; the IMCA DP practitioner accreditation scheme; and competence assurance through CPD.

Captain Andy Goldsmith, Technical Adviser – Marine will be acting as a panellist in a discussion on ‘Collaboration & Cooperation to Deliver ‘Safety at Sea’ in DP Operations’ considering future collaboration to achieve common safety goals and debate how key associations and industry leaders can work together for the good of the sector.

Other panellists will include representatives from DNV GL, the Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF), and The Nautical Institute.

IMCA will also be leading the roundtable discussion on ‘Standardisation in the offshore renewable energy industry’ at The Offshore Wind Journal Conference which runs in parallel to the DP event on 4 February.

During the two-day Annual Offshore Support Journal Conference (5 and 6 February) IMCA’s Technical Director, Mark Ford, will take part in an hour-long debate focusing on four specific topics to stimulate debate on the contribution of trade associations to the offshore support section in:

  • Development of industry standards and guidance
  • Encouraging professionalism in the offshore sector
  • Opportunities for benchmarking among operators
  • Decarbonisation and the potential requirement for new regulation.

This industry roundtable also has senior representatives from the International Chamber of Shipping; the Support Vessel Owners’ Association and The Nautical Institute taking part.
