The offshore oil and gas and renewable energy industries represent a number of industry sectors of significant economic value in many countries. The oil and gas market enables the exploration, development and production of a sizeable proportion of the world\u2019s oil and gas reserves. There are numerous market segments and specialist niches where our members are active. In addition, the offshore renewable energy industry is an important and growing market, together with the transoceanic communications sector. All these sectors share the common need to install and maintain assets and equipment on the seabed, often in remote and demanding environments.<\/p>

Marine Contractors use an advanced and diverse fleet of\nspecialist vessels to undertake construction, inspection, repair and\nmaintenance of offshore facilities. From these vessels, an assortment of\nspecialist equipment is used for installing and removing platforms, pipelines,\ncontrol systems, subsea production equipment etc. In addition, there is a sophisticated\narray of robotic and diving technologies  deployed to facilitate intervention in deep\nwater.<\/p>

The supply side of the industry varies from large, integrated\ncontractors providing a full range of services on a global scale to smaller, specialised\ncontractors focusing on specific technical or geographic markets. Supporting\nall contractors is a wide range of suppliers with an equally wide range of\nproducts and services. IMCA Members are active in all sectors of the industry.<\/p>
