Busy springtime for IMCA's Technical Team

Published on 24 March 2015

It’s proving a busy springtime for members of the Technical Team of the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) with presentations being delivered at conferences in Brazil, Canada, Norway, and in three UK cities.

“I am travelling to Canada this week for the Canadian Underwater Conference in Victoria (29-31 March) where I will be speaking on hyperbaric evacuation, and was in Stavanger recently, where I spoke about ‘News from IMCA’ focusing on diving and ROV issues at the Norwegian Oil and Gas Network for Subsea Operations event,” explains IMCA’s Technical Director Jane Bugler.

“Technical Adviser Nick Hough is speaking on ‘IMCA Offshore Survey Guidance: an update on further developments’ at Offshore Survey which runs alongside Ocean Business (Southampton, 14-16 April). He will be giving a detailed technical update on 15 April on the work of our Offshore Survey division committee. He and other members of the IMCA team will be manning the IMCA stand at Ocean Business, and IMCA members are also involved in the Ocean Careers side of the event.
“Later in April Mark Ford our Technical Manager is speaking at North Sea Lifting (21-25 April in Stavanger), giving a joint presentation with DSM Dyneema ‘New guidance to push the boundaries and leave the comfort zone to create the magic in offshore lifting’; then he is off to All-Energy, the UK’s largest renewable energy exhibition and conference (Glasgow, 6-7 May) to talk about what IMCA brings to the offshore wind industry.

“That’s not where it ends, far from it!” she adds. “Our new DP specialist and Technical Adviser, Andy Goldsmith will be speaking at DPBRASIL (Rio de Janeiro, 26-27 May) as well as attending OTC in Houston earlier in the month; and Chris Baldwin, also a Technical Adviser, will speak on DP training at the European Dynamic Positioning Conference in London in mid-June.

“It is extremely useful to be able to attend and speak at such a wide range of highly relevant events, and spread word of IMCA’s involvement across the marine contracting industry where we are committed to helping our thousand-plus member companies in more than 60 countries deliver safe and efficient operations with an eye on adding value rather than cost.”
