Addressing the Challenges of New Frontiers’ is the theme of the International Marine Contractors Association’s (IMCA) Annual Seminar, for which the Call for Papers has been published. The 21st event in the annual series will be held at the Shangri-La Hotel in Singapore on Wednesday 6-Thursday 7 November. The call for papers, for which abstracts of around 500 words are requested, is open until 26 April, and a template is available on the IMCA website at www.imca-int.com or from events@imca-int.com
“The theme of this year’s event could cover the challenges faced by marine contractors – in terms of remote locations, deepwater and challenging field development, and also in delivering appropriate solutions, as well as consideration of initiatives currently underway leading to this goal,” explains IMCA’s Technical Director, Jane Bugler.
“Once again, the event is organised by all four IMCA technical divisions and will include separate Marine, Diving and Offshore Survey/ROV sessions. The format will again encompass keynote presentations on commercial/contracting issues, plenary sessions, streamed presentation sessions and parallel workshops on a variety of issues, as well as the associated exhibition of supplier members and a variety social and networking events.”
Guidance on topics
“We have provided a list of topics on the website as guidance to prospective speakers, but obviously presentations relating to all types of marine operations will be considered,” she adds.”Our suggested topics for presentations fall under five headings – ‘Marine and subsea operations, including DP operations’; ‘Marine operations technology and equipment – current and evolving technology’; ‘Diving – key developments and advances in diving equipment and operations’; ‘ROV and AUV resources – developments in ROV and AUV technology’; and ‘Offshore survey – addressing the challenges of survey operations in new frontiers’.
